LETS TALK ABOUT IT
Have you ever experienced a time in your life where you had to keep your truth quiet? Especially as a child, I know I did! The kind of secrets that my family made sure I didn’t tell any one about left me feeling ashame.
I had the truth locked up, in my thoughts, my soul and my heart, which over time created more shame which circulated around the actual truth.
Shame is often rooted in our family, from deep dark secrets that have been covered up. Secrets that one or both parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc; have passed down through generations.
Shame often feels like you’ve done something so wrong that you can feel flawed, embarrassed or not worthy! Your feelings can easily shift from shame to guilt. Guilt that screams “THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, YOU DID THIS!”
You must understand and know that the shame of your past is not your fault, especially in the case of childhood neglect! You were an innocent child and was incapable of understanding the behavior and actions of others.
WHAT DOES GOD SAY
Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like a stone, determined to do his will. And I know that I will not be put to shame. ISAIAH 50:7 NLT
LETS PRAY TOGETHER
Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you today asking that you help me pull down and cast away any Shameful thoughts in my mind, heart and soul. For the Bible calls me Worthy, Strong and More than a CONQUEROR! I pray that you help me weaken the stronghold that shame has over my life so that I can walk in the boldness and power you have called me to walk in! Amen.
